Thesis under international joint supervision
Principle of international joint supervision
The international thesis joint supervision program aims to develop scientific cooperation between French and international research teams and promote student mobility.
Students willing to prepare their thesis under joint supervision will pursue their research under the supervision and authority of a supervisor in both countries. The two supervisors will commit to fulfilling all their duties towards the PhD student. All competencies required from the supervisor will be performed jointly by both supervisors.
Every thesis joint supervision will be completed under the agreement between the two institutions involved in the program, which entails reciprocity. The agreement acknowledges the validity of the thesis defended in such context. As for the French part of the program, the Doctorate rules and procedures apply.
Funding of the thesis under international joint supervision
Every year, the Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche (French Ministry of Research and Higher Education) awards mobility grants under the thesis joint supervision program. Only students in their first year of studies, as of January 1st, will be eligible.
Legal foundation of the thesis under joint supervision
L’arrêté du 06 janvier 2005 (Ministerial decree of January 6th, 2005) concerning the international thesis joint supervision program (last modified on January 6th, 2005).
